Best Practice Statement and Outcome Data for gauze-based Negative Pressure Wound Therapy

Posted: Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Talley Group Ltd are pleased to announce the launch of two new projects that will further build upon the growing body of clinical evidence that has supported the increased use of the Venturi Negative Pressure Wound Therapy range.

Talley has collaborated with Wounds UK to develop a best practice statement for the use of gauze-based negative pressure wound therapy. The statements are an attempt to take the first steps towards reaching a consensus on the use of the gauze-based therapy. The document aims to support practitioners wishing to deliver this therapy to their patients by providing them with a framework around which they can base their practice without being prescriptive about decisions best left to the bedside.

Talley will also launch an outcomes tracking project. The primary objective of this project is to assess the clinical performance of Venturi Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in acute and chronic wounds which have been assessed as suitable for this treatment. Clinicians need to be able to make an informed decision on their choice of NPWT through a structured product evaluation, which demonstrates clinical effectiveness, clinician and patient satisfaction as well as cost. The protocol and accompanying evaluation documentation will enable the customer to thoroughly evaluate the VENTURI and use the data to inform choice.
