Talley Group Ltd today announced that their Venturi™ Negative Pressure Wound Therapy products including the pump system, dressing kits and canisters have been included on the new NHS Supply Chain Advanced Woundcare and Topical Negative Pressure Therapy Contract. CM/MCD/07/4921
The NHS Supply Chain procurement process used independent product councils made up from clinical experts who evaluated the evidence supporting each product. Products awarded onto the contract also had to meet new standards of clinical and cost effectiveness that promote best practice in wound care.
Group Operations Manager Kevin Mearns stated;
We are delighted to have been awarded onto this contract, Venturi™ has continued to prove its clinical acceptance, and the growing body of published evidence clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the product range. The dressing kits and canisters are used with our state of the art negative pressure wound therapy pump and this clinically proven system continues to deliver exceptional clinical outcomes.
The dressing technique involves the application of a moistened anti-microbial dressing (AMD) gauze and a silicone drain to the wound, this is then covered with a transparent film, ensuring an air tight seal and a moist wound healing environment are maintained. The drainage tubing is then connected to the canister where the pressure is regulated. Once the prescribed pressure is set, negative pressure is delivered to the wound. This technique is adapted from the Chariker-Jeter paper 1989. This technique also utilises lower pressure settings, usually between 60-80mmHg of negative pressure.
The easy to use Wound Sealing Kits contain everything needed to complete the dressing and are available in standard sizes which incorporate either the flat or channel drain. A large sealing kit or abdominal sealing kit incorporating the flat drain is also available for larger wounds. Selection is dependent upon the wound type being treated. The individual 600ml canisters that fit securely and discreetly onto the back of the unit come with integrated solidifier, hydrophobic and carbon bacterial filters.
Talley Group Limited provides clinical education and ongoing training, the clinical team, all registered general nurses (RGN’s), offer clinical support and advice when utilising the Venturi NPWT System. Clinical training can be tailor made to suit the individual trusts needs. Training packages consist of modules that include: - Wound bed preparation, tips and techniques associated with NPWT and management of complex wounds.
