Talley Group announce the launch of TECare
Posted: Monday, September 26th, 2005
TECare® a new specialist sanitising service for hospital wards, nursing homes, GP surgeries and home care, is launched today.
It comes from Talley Environmental Care, a new division of the Talley Group Ltd, the UK’s largest independent supplier of pressure area care equipment, and is designed to protect patients from the risk of Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) while limiting the financial impact of the Government’s new cleaning frequency guidelines.
Recent Government and Healthcare infection control initiatives have focused on hand hygiene campaigns to prevent the spread of infection, however without preventing environmental cross contamination healthcare professional and patients continue to be at risk. The TECare system breaks the final link in the contamination cycle.
Under the TECare system, trained technicians will treat entire areas, killing or inactivating a broad spectrum of bacteria, viruses, moulds and bacterial spores including Clostridium difficile and MRSA, preventing new colonisation of treated surfaces for up to 4 weeks.
TECare technicians provide traceable environmental risk assessment reports to healthcare facilities, using sample data from medically calibrated ATP meters, similar to those used by the environmental health service in the UK, to provide evidence of
the effectiveness of the service, and provide management teams and/or infection control teams with valuable environmental monitoring information allowing comprehensive trend analysis.
The TECare sanitising service incorporates a highly effective and ultra safe antimicrobial product already extensively proven within the airline and travel industries to guard against cross contamination and protect passengers.
TECare fluid, wipes and soap kill a wide range of microbes within 30 seconds to 1 minute of contact and the unique physical action of the chemical matrix prevents further colonisation and the formation of biofilms on treated surfaces for up to four weeks.
Unlike other sanitising products the TECare fluid contains very low levels of acticides which, along with the physical action of the chemical matrix, work in harmony with each effectively kill a wide range of bacteria and other micro organisms and still be safe enough to purify drinking water.
TECare fluid has no noticeable odour, does not stain or bleach treated surfaces, and has the same hazardous specification as distilled water, so can be applied when patients are still in situ (subject to local procedures).
A unique Environmental Sanitising Unit (ESU) will be used to treat large surface areas such as walls and windows, as well as soft furnishings, furniture, floors under beds and other inaccessible areas.
The TECare system is seen as complementary to existing cleaning programmes but cutting costs through its effectiveness and longevity.
