Posted: Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Talley Group Ltd is pleased to report that 2008 has been another successful year for the company, achieving a record turnover for the 12 months ended 31st October 2008.

Continuing on from last year’s success, the company has posted another excellent set of results clearly demonstrating that their product range and strategy of investment in UK manufacturing, with research and development focusing on quality, value, and innovation has driven expansion in the UK and International markets.

The Board of Directors continue to explore opportunities to develop the company further through product developments, acquisitions, license agreements and partnerships, with the confidence that the company is well set to continue with its growth pattern in 2009.

The company has clearly demonstrated the acceptance of its product range, its technical and clinical capabilities, along with the total commitment to the customer – listening to them, and responding to their needs quickly and efficiently, while keeping prices competitive for the expanding customer base both in the UK and Internationally.

Products within the Group’s portfolio include the Quattro™ and Base™ range of pressure relieving mattresses and seating systems, Liberty™ and Homecarer™ electric bedframes and the Sentinel™ Bariatric System. Venturi™ Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, Multicom™ compression therapy, the Sylvan™ range of specialist duvets and pillows and TECcare™ antimicrobial technology.
The product ranges within the company are very strong; the mattress business globally has grown significantly as has their NPWT solution. The antimicrobial product range has seen some significant advances in the technology, culminating in exciting new test results.

The mattress and surfaces business has continued to grow significantly in 2008 with the   company awarded a number of equipment rental contracts, were Acute, Primary Care Trusts, Nursing Homes and the Private Sector have invested in products from their extensive range. The company has continued to demonstrate the clinical effectiveness and acceptance of the product range, with after sales, clinical and technical support expanding, giving customers a first class service from Head Office and the 10 regional service centres throughout the UK. As part of these awards the company has shown its ability to deal with the challenging transitions from one supplier to another, including the transfer of staff under the TUPE regulations, providing a seamless service that minimizes the disruption to patients and staff.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy business has seen a remarkable growth this year. In the UK the product range has been awarded onto a number of contracts and the dressings and canisters are available via the drug tariff.  Venturi™ is now represented in over 15 countries and has FDA clearance for the product range in the United States.

The strategy of providing clinical evidence, along with an aggressive pricing policy, has influenced the growth in the UK and International markets. This successful strategy is designed to encourage an increase in NPWT usage with more patients being treated, allowing access to NPWT for clinicians who are looking for a clinical and cost effective alternative to traditional solutions, one that delivers exceptional clinical outcomes.

Along with Wounds UK, the company launched the Best Practice Statement on Gauze-based negative pressure wound therapy. This has been developed in an attempt to take the first steps towards reaching a consensus on the use of gauze-based negative pressure wound therapy. This Best Practice Statement has been welcomed internationally and is available from the company or as a download from the Wounds UK website. The statement will be discussed further in 2009 at two Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Roadshows organized by Wounds UK.
The company announced the launch of our next generation Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System Venturi™ Compact. The Compact has been designed and built incorporating the same features and benefits as the existing Venturi™, with additional functions yet weighing less than 1kg. The Compact is smaller, lighter and available with a 300ml canister.
Internationally the company is heavily focused on expanding the business outside of the Americas, developing strong relationships with companies that share their vision of providing cost effective clinical solutions. Another successful Medica exhibition saw a number of new distributors making contact and wanting to represent the expanding product range.

In the US they have continued to develop excellent relationships within the DME homecare market. The launch of the Negative Pressure Wound Therapy product range has proceeded to plan and with FDA clearance received in July, the company has seen a steady growth. Medtrade and SAWC exhibitions held in the US at the end of 2008 were very busy with dealers and healthcare professionals alike wanting more information on their NPWT solution.

TECcare™ antimicrobial technology is the revolutionary new process used in developing their antimicrobial product range. This attracted much attention during 2008. The innovative TECcare™ antimicrobial technologies have been developed to meet the ever changing demands of industry and society as a whole. All of the products are clinically proven to kill / deactivate an extensive range of pathogens including Bacteria, Bacterial spores, Viruses, Moulds and Fungi.

Independent testing and evaluation has comprehensively demonstrated that TECcare™ Control not only kills bacteria on contact, but its unique formulation provides progressive sustained efficiency, conditioning surfaces and inhibiting bacterial colonization for up to 4 weeks from application.

TECcare™ Ultra is a unique, new Ultra High Level (UHL) disinfectant sterilant that can provide complete reduction (log 10+ - 99.99999999+%) of microbial load on surfaces and avoids the serious hazard issues of comparable products like Hydrogen Peroxide and Chlorine releasing agents such as bleach. TECcare™ Ultra can be used without detrimental effect on all hard and most soft surfaces.

Assessed by the EU / WHO Clostridium difficile reference laboratories in Belgium, TECcare™ Ultra was one of only two products out of a wide range, to pass new stringent sporicidal testing which mimics conditions found in the environment, rather than traditional suspension testing. The product has also been extensively tested by a GLP accredited laboratory and has been shown to be highly effective against Bacteria, Viruses, Mould, Fungi and Mould.

The TECcare™ technology range represents a significant challenge for the company globally and they will be focusing on how they penetrate the relevant markets, either directly or through partnerships and license agreements. The TECcare™ technology can be used in a variety of areas including healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Advanced Woundcare, Dentistry, Food and Beverage, Hospitality and Leisure, Water Treatment, Industrial Applications, Schools and Nurseries as well as for General Domestic Hygiene.
